- נָכְרִיm. (b. h.; preced. wds.) stranger, gentile. (In editions published under the censors supervision, our w. is frequently changed into עכו״ם, גּוֹי, כּוּשִׁי, כּוּתִי Ab. Zar. IV, 4 (51b; 52b; Mish. ed. עכו״ם). Sabb.31a; a. v. fr.Pl. נָכְרִים. Ḥull.13b נ׳ שבחוצה לארץ לאו עובדיע״זוכ׳ gentiles outside of Palestine are not to be considered as idolaters, they only continue their fathers customs.
